545 0 |a William Buckland (1784-1856) was an English geologist and paleontologist, who composed the first complete description of a fossil dinosaur, Megalosaurus. Buckland became a Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, in 1809, and in 1813, he was appointed reader in mineralogy. He was elected president of the Geological Society of London in 1824. His published works include Geology and Mineralogy considered with reference to natural theology (1836)
