545 |a Psychologist Patricia Curran Ostrow, daughter of Helen Blanch and William David Curran, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and master's degrees from the University of Southern California and the California School of Professional Psychology. She was an associate professor at the University of Southern California but left the position in 1960 to marry Ronald J. Ostrow, a reporter for the Los Angeles Times. In 1962, they had a daughter, Kathryn. When she was two years old, Kathryn was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. She died from the disease in 1977. Patricia and Ronald divorced a few years later. Patricia returned to school in 1987 and in 1993, she completed a PhD in psychology from the California School of Psychology. Ostrow is the co-author of Quality Assurance Primer: Improving Health Care Outcomes and Productivity (1983) and the author of The Wing-Walker's Life and Family: Four Generations of Women in the 20th Century (2018)
