Item Description:Decoration: Catilinae coniuratio opens on fol. 1r with a 7-line gold historiated initial O, containing a profile portrait of Sallust holding a book; floriate decoration with gold in upper, and lower, and left side margins, inhabited by four water birds and with four flaming torches; obliterated arms encircled with a wreath and held by putti. Bellum Iugurthinum opens on fol. 45r with a 6-line gold initial F, with white vine-stem decoration extending into the side and top margins, set on blue, green, and pink fields and outlined in blue; section V:1 (“Bellum scripturum sum”) opens on fol. 47v with a 3-line gold initial B on a pink square filled in with green and blue finished with white pen-swirls
