He recalls his close, extended family; attending Hebrew and public school; concern about events in Germany; moving with his mother and siblings to Zelów in 1939; German invasion; returning to Wieluń; antisemitic regulations; confiscation of their apartment; hiding during round-ups; his mother's and sister's arrest in April 1942 (he never saw them again); hiding with family members and a non-Jew; round-up with his two brothers and father in August; their escape and capture; another escape; their flight to the Częstochowa ghetto; hiding with his brothers, father, and other Jews during the ghetto's liquidation; moving into Częstochowa's small ghetto; forced labor; their transfer to Skarżysko-Kamienna in January 1942; beatings and public hangings; their transfer to Częstochowa; his father's deportation; escape with his brothers; liberation by Soviet troops in January 1945; returning to Wieluń; reunion with their father; moving to Wałbrzych; traveling with his father to Germany; living in Marktredwitz; marriage; and emigration to the United States.
